Why I Stay Up Late

Some people love sleep 
It rejuvenates the body
And a reprieve from the world

I want to love sleep too
Though it's difficult
When the world is so loud

That escaping from the noise
Feels wrong and unproductive
As time is wasted in the dreams 

Because I'm living separate lives
Whenever I go to sleep
That I feel like the game is broken

As if I'm the main character 
In so many stories
But I don't know which one is real

1st POV has that effect 
Jumping universes
Is discombobulating 

Sleep can be stressful 
Anxiety inducing
When rest feels undeserving

I have so many things
I want to get done
That sleep seems undesirable

So I work on my dreams
Work on my goals
Until my body says enough

Then I crash for however long 
And repeat the cycle
